Daniel Sparkman is an outcome driven Public Relations professional offering more than 13 years of professional experience in news and politics. He is highly successful in developing and implementing media plans online and on-air. With a strong media background Daniel has amassed outstanding media relationships across the country with journalists, editors, and producers on the local and national level. Daniel is a strategic planner and big picture thinker who looks to the future and sets goals to stay at the forefront of industry and technology.

Currently Daniel serves as Press Secretary for the Office of the Governor, State of Alabama. He was appointed to a position with the Office of the Governor in June 2014 and promoted in July 2016 and again in February 2017. Daniel is an Emmy nominated, award winning journalist with eleven years experience in the broadcast news industry.

He started his career at WSFA in Montgomery, Alabama in October 2003 as a Production Technician. He went on to learn many of the jobs in Production and some in News. In December 2004, Daniel found the opportunity for advancement and moved to KHOG/KHBS in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as a Photojournalist. Daniel spent 7 months working there and then took a hiatus from television to work as a banker. He worked for Arvest bank in Arkansas from August 2005 to March 2006. In March, Daniel moved back home to Montgomery and began work at WFRZ, Frazer Christian Television as Promotions Manager and Reporter.

A year later Daniel rejoined the team at WSFA. He served many roles there as Associate Producer and Weekend Assignment Editor before being promoted to lead-producer of Today in Alabama, one of the highest rated morning shows in America. Daniel left WSFA and moved to Birmingham and a short time later began working at WVUA. Daniel wore many hats at WVUA over his four years there. From Reporter to Producer, Weather Anchor to News Anchor, Daniel played a vital role in the day to day operations of the newsroom. Daniel also served as Political Director for the station’s election coverage and Special Events Producer on several College Football Championship coverage events.

During his career Daniel amassed several honors including an Emmy nomination, Associated Press awards, ABBY Awards, and several local honors.

Outside of work Daniel enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with with his friends and family and spending a lot of time with his dogs.
